Our view of the service

We carried out this announced off-site inspection on 7 August 2026.

Where we carry out an off-site inspection, we undertake a detailed review of the practice risk assessments, policies, staff records and other relevant documents. We gather feedback from patients, staff and stakeholders (where relevant). We carry out a remote visual assessment of the premises and have discussions with staff.

We found the practice had met regulations.

The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.

Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures reflected relevant legislation, with some improvements needed to ensure processes were consistently followed. The practice had systems in place to support effective leadership and continuous improvement.

Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.

Green and Green Dental Surgery is part of Rodericks Dental Partners, a dental group provider. The practice is in Wigan and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

Due to the limitations of the building, the practice was not wheelchair accessible. Patients requiring accessible facilities were directed to a nearby sister practice. On-street car parking was available in the surrounding area, and the practice was located on a local bus route.

The practice had 5 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 17 staff. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 1 dentist, 1 dental nurse, and the practice manager. Two of the group’s Compliance Managers were also at the inspection supporting the team.

People's experience of this service

Two weeks before our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us.

We also reviewed comments collected by the practice and online reviews in the last 2 months. Overall patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and the care provided by the practice.

Patients praised the friendliness and professionalism of the team. Comments included, "All staff very polite would definitely recommend this dentist," and "Brilliant service today... has really helped. Would definitely recommend to anyone."

Patients also highlighted the communication they received throughout their care. One patient commented, "Everything is explained in detail of what treatment they are going to do and what needs doing on the next visit."

Patients spoke positively about the support they received during treatment, particularly those who felt anxious about dental visits. Feedback included, "I hate going to the dentist, but I feel calm on each visit I have been to."

Patients also commented positively on access to care and the practice environment. One patient said, "I turned up late due to traffic, dentist still saw me cannot fault this dentist," while another noted, "Staff are friendly and professional. Surgery is nice and clean. Easy to get appointments."

One patient expressed dissatisfaction with the cost of proposed private treatment. The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
