Our view of the service
We carried out this unannounced on-site inspection on 8 September 2025.
We found the practice had not met all regulations.
The practice had ineffective systems to identify and manage risks, including the risks associated with fire safety, the management of medical emergencies, radiation safety, sharps safety, infection prevention and control, and clinical waste.
The practice did not have safeguarding processes and staff did not know their responsibilities for safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
Recruitment procedures did not reflect current legislation and there was ineffective leadership and a lack of a culture of continuous improvement.
We were not assured that all staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.
However, staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.
Marble Arch Dental Centre is in the City of Westminster, London and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
There was step-free access to the practice, with 1 surgery located on the ground floor, and public transport links were available in the vicinity of the practice.
The practice had 6 treatment rooms. During the week of our inspection, there was a total of 20 staff on the rota, of which there were 7 dentists, 1 qualified dental nurse and 4 trainee dental nurses, and 8 receptionists. The practice manager and the registered manager were the practice owners and did not work clinically. We spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 2 dentists, 3 dental nurses, 2 receptionists and the practice manager.
The provider was not complying with 5 regulations. Full details of the regulations the provider was not meeting are within the inspection report.
In instances where CQC has begun a process of regulatory action, we may publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded, if the action has been taken forward.
We have requested an action plan from the provider in response to the concerns identified during this inspection, relating to safeguarding, staffing, and the employment of fit and proper persons.
