Our view of the service
We undertook a follow-up on-site inspection on 13 October 2025. This was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to assess whether the practice was meeting legal requirements.
We had previously undertaken an announced on-site inspection of Windmill Dental Surgery on 23 April 2025. We had found the registered provider was not providing safe or well-led care and was in breach of regulations 12 Safe Care and Treatment and 17 good governance of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.
During our follow-up inspection, we found the practice had not met all regulations.
Improvements had been made to recruitment procedures to reflect current legislation, although further improvements were required
The practice had some systems to manage risks although improvements were required. Risk assessments for Legionella and fire safety had been completed but action had not been taken to address all issues identified.
A new compliance system had been implemented to support leadership and governance. Work was ongoing to embed the system.
Staff had completed further training to help ensure that they had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.
Staff treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.
The practice is in Longford, Coventry and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, were available near the practice.
The practice had 2 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 7 staff, of which there was the dentist who was also the owner, 4 dental nurses, including 2 trainee dental nurses, 1 receptionist and the practice manager. During the inspection we spoke with the dentist and the practice manager.
The provider was not complying with all regulations. Full details of the regulation the provider was not meeting are within the inspection findings below.
We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this inspection.
