Our view of the service

Baby Moments provides diagnostic pregnancy ultrasound, gynaecological and fertility scans to self-funding women predominantly across Oxfordshire and Berkshire but would accept women from across the UK. The service provides diagnostic imaging for women aged 18 years and over. It is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to provide the regulated activity of diagnostic and screening procedures.

This service was previously inspected in July 2019 and rated requires improvement. Our overall rating for Baby Moments remains requires improvement.

In our assessment of diagnostic screening services, we found the service did not conduct clinical risk assessments. Staff did not always know what to do in safeguarding situations. The service did not always assess or manage the risk of infection. The service did not always have good governance. They did not always act on the best information about risk, performance and outcomes.

However, the service ensured there was continuity of care, including when people moved between different services. Staff made sure equipment, facilities and technology supported the delivery of safe care. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. Staff ensured patients consented before treatment commenced. The service always treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity. The service promoted people’s independence and listened to and understood people’s needs, views and wishes. The service made sure people were at the centre of their care. The service supplied appropriate, accurate and up-to-date information. The service made it easy for people to share feedback. The service fostered a positive culture where people felt they could speak up.

We found 4 breaches of the legal regulations relating to safeguarding, infection prevention and control, involving people to manage risk, and governance.
