Equity in access

Regulations met

Staff had carried out a disability access audit and had an action plan to continually improve access for patients.

Staff described the reasonable adjustments they had made to ensure the practice was as accessible as possible. For example, staff could offer visual aids and electronic devices with text enlarging facilities for patients to review and sign documents. A hearing loop was installed, and staff could access language translation and sign language services.

Staff were clear about the importance of providing emotional support to patients when delivering care.

The practice supported more vulnerable members of society, for example, patients living with dementia or adults and children with a learning disability.

The practice displayed its opening hours and provided information on their website, patient information leaflet and social media page.

The practice delivered urgent out-of-hours NHS dental care to patients in the evening and at weekends. Patients could access care by calling a local number where an appointment would be provided. At the time of our inspection, patients who needed an urgent appointment were offered one in a timely manner.
