Our view of the service
Dates of inspection: 23 and 27 April 2026
Pine View is a ‘care home’ without nursing for older people living with physical disabilities, sensory impairment, and dementia. At the time of the assessment, 11 people were living at the service. People in care homes receive accommodation and personal care as a single package under one contractual agreement. CQC regulates both the premises and the care provided. Both were looked at during this assessment.
At our previous inspection we issued 2 warning notices (relating to safe environments and good governance) and 4 breaches of legal regulations (relating to safe care and treatment, safe environments, consent, and good governance). We carried out this assessment to review whether the provider had complied with the warning notice and had made the required improvements to meet the relevant regulations.
At this inspection improvements had been made, and the provider was no longer in breach of the legal regulations relating to safe care and treatment, safe environments, consent, and good governance.
Over the past year, the provider and staff team have worked diligently to implement positive changes, ensuring people received good-quality care and support. Significant progress has been made, strengthening the safety, effectiveness, and governance of the service, and demonstrating a clear commitment to continuous improvement.
The service was small, homely, and well-staffed. People and staff knew each other well and the atmosphere was friendly and warm. Staff were knowledgeable about the people they supported and developed meaningful relationships with them.
The care provided was safe and respectful with risk being effectively managed. Improvements had been made to the premises to ensure people were supported in an environment suitable for their needs. Staff kept the premises clean, fresh, and tidy.
Care plans and risk assessments had been re-written and improved, enabling person-centred care. Staff worked closely with healthcare professionals to ensure people’s medical needs were met. People’s medicines were well-managed and stored safely.
Staff training had significantly improved, with staff developing their knowledge and skills through an enhanced training programme. This included training in key areas, for example, dementia care, managing distressed behaviour, and positive behaviour support. This helped to ensure staff could meet the needs of people living with dementia and other mental health needs.
The provider’s monitoring and oversight of the service had improved. A comprehensive new audit system had been introduced to ensure that all aspects of the service were operating safely, effectively, and in line with expected standards.

We observed numerous caring interactions between staff and people. Staff were always patient and kind and knew how to reassure and comfort people if they became distressed. A relative said, “I’d recommend it here because the staff are so caring.”
Since the last inspection, the provider has employed an activities co-ordinator for three days per week. We observed group activities taking place in the lounge, which people were actively participating in. People were also using the secure rear garden, which had been made safer and more accessible with the inclusion of a shaded seating area.
People told us staff regularly asked them for their views and comments on the service. A person said, “They ask me if I’m ok with everything when they’re getting me up.” Another person commented, “They [staff] are always checking if I’m alright and happy. It’s a good home – my family couldn’t have found me anywhere better.”
