Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 14 May to 20 May 2026. Serenata Care Ltd Trading as Two Cedars is a residential care home in Poole. It is registered to provide care and support for up to 17 people. 10 people were living at the home during this inspection. This inspection was prompted by concerns we received about the safety of care provision. The provider was in breach of legal regulations relating to safe care and treatment and good governance.
Staff were not always recruited safely and did not have regular supervision or checks of their practice. Medicines were not always managed safely. Governance systems were either not in place or not always operating effectively, as they had not identified the shortfalls we found during this inspection. Records showed no action had been taken to address actions identified on the Fire risk assessment and water hygiene risk assessment.
We asked the provider for an action plan in response to the shortfalls found at this inspection.
People had person centred care plans in place. Staff were kind and caring, treating people with dignity and respect. There had been a recent change in managers. Staff felt supported and appreciated by the new manager and told us the new manager was working hard to drive improvement within the home.
People's experience of this service
We received mixed feedback from people about the quality of food and activities provided. However, people spoke positively about the staff and care provided. Comments from people and relatives included, “The staff are lovely, we do have a laugh here. I am happy here and well looked after. I don’t go out much, but I like going to the dining room for lunch and I enjoy reading”, “Staff are nice and pleasant”, and “This is a homely and nice place. It’s not too clinical, it feels like living in your own home.”
