Our view of the service

The service is a care home that can provide personal care for up to 3 people. At the time of our assessment, 3 people were living in the care home. The home comprises three separate properties, each with its own outdoor garden area. The service is registered for people with learning disabilities and/or autistic disorder, younger adults, mental health, sensory impairment, and physical disability.

We assessed the service against the Right support, right care, right culture guidance to determine whether people with a learning disability and autistic people were supported with dignity, equality, choice, independence and access to everyday community life. We found the provider was meeting these principles. People were supported to express their views in ways that suited them, their choices were respected, and staff encouraged and enabled them to lead as fulfilling and independent a life as possible.

The service promoted a strong learning culture where people, relatives and staff felt comfortable raising concerns. People were kept safe, and both the registered manager and staff understood and managed risks effectively. All facilities and equipment were clean, well-maintained, and met people’s needs. There were enough experienced staff who understood their roles and responsibilities, and the service supported staff wellbeing. Medicines were managed safely and appropriately.

Care was person‑centred, supported by detailed and informative care plans that were regularly updated to reflect each person’s current needs. Robust processes were in place to ensure good quality care and support. There were effective systems for recording and monitoring information. The management team maintained strong oversight by being visible and accessible to staff, and by routinely auditing care plans and other key documents.

People were treated with kindness and compassion, and staff protected their privacy and dignity. Staff recognised people as individuals, respected their preferences, and supported them to make choices about their care. People were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends, and staff responded promptly to their needs. Information was provided in formats people could easily understand and access.

People took part in activities of their choice within the home and were supported and encouraged to go out into the community. The provider worked closely with other health and social care services, maintaining clear and effective communication to ensure each person received personalised care that met their individual needs.

The registered manager and provider promoted a clear, shared vision rooted in listening, learning, and trust. They worked closely with the local community to help deliver high‑quality care. A strong culture of continuous improvement was evident throughout the service.
