Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 4 November 2025 – 8 December 2025. We carried out an unannounced visit to the service on 4 November 2025

Hampstead Court Care Home is a residential care home. This location is run by 2 companies. These 2 companies have a dual registration and are jointly responsible for the services at the home. The home provides a combination of residential, nursing and dementia care with a maximum capacity of 82. At the time of our visit there were 55 people living there.

This was the first assessment of the service since it was registered with CQC on 14 December 2023. Following this assessment, we have rated the service good.

We have identified a breach of regulation in relation to safe care and treatment because there were several aspects of the management of medicines that were not as safe as they could have been. We will request an action plan from the provider for them to tell us about the improvements they intend to make.

The service had a competent leadership team that provided clear direction and supported the delivery of care that met the needs of people living there. The registered manager had been in post approximately 6 months at the time of our assessment. They demonstrated the provider’s values and had a clear vision for the future of the home.

People were kept safe by capable and supportive care staff, many of whom told us they thought of their role as a real vocation. Staff demonstrated a caring and individual approach to supporting people.

The service listened to and acted upon complaints and incidents to continually improve care. They worked well with other professionals involved in people’s care to ensure continuity of care and equity in access.

The environment was clean and well maintained with no hazards. There were well used communal areas for people to socialise and partake in activities which they were able to access equally.

People's experience of this service

We spoke to 9 people who lived at Hampstead Court Care Home and1relative.Overall, comments were positive.

Feedback we received from people regarding meals gave a mix of opinions. Whilst people felt their dietary needs were met and preferences accommodated, not all were happy with the choices available. There was a comments book in the dining areas for people to share their comments with the chef and kitchen staff. This was reviewed by the chef and discussed with people to see what changes could be made.

People spoke about activities positively, particularly those involving visitors to the home, for example musicians. Many people liked to use the lounge areas for socialising with other people.

People told us they felt safe and comfortable. They expressed that staff were kind and caring and they felt confident in their ability to look after them safely and treat them with respect. A relative told us ,“My [relative] is very safe and secure here. [They] love the carers and have total trust in them”
