At the inspection on 24 June 2025, we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulation:

The practice had taken steps to improve its management and governance systems in relation to assessing and mitigating risks.

The practice carried out audits of its infection prevention procedures. These audits were carried out in line with current published guidance. Audits included detailed action plans and evidence that any areas where improvements were needed were acted on promptly.

The practice appeared clean and cleaning schedules were maintained.

Clinical waste was segregated and stored securely in locked waste bins.

The practice had implemented the use of safer sharps systems and there were arrangements for the safe handling of dental sharps in line with a sharps safety risk assessment.

The practice had made improvements to its systems for reducing the risk of Legionella or other bacteria growing in the water systems. The hot water tank was tested and water temperatures were monitored to reduce risks.

The practice had procedures to help them identify and manage signs and symptoms of sepsis. Staff undertook training and sepsis awareness posters were displayed in the practice.

Records were available which showed that fire safety systems and equipment were tested and maintained in accordance with fire safety legislation and relevant guidance. These included the testing of the emergency lighting systems and records of fire evacuation drills.

The practice had taken steps to address the required actions from the fixed wiring installation report in February 2024.

There were systems to assess and mitigate risks where staff worked alone at the practice.

The practice had improved the systems to ensure that appropriate emergency medicines and equipment were available and regularly checked. Staff would benefit from periodic medical emergency scenario training.

Recruitment protocols had been reviewed and improved to ensure that appropriate records such as Disclosure and Barring Service checks were available for all staff. Improvements were needed so that all new staff completed a structured period of induction.

Improvements had been made to the practice systems for monitoring staff training. Certificates were available for staff in relation to areas including safeguarding, fire safety, infection control, and sepsis awareness. Staff had the opportunity to discuss training and development needs during annual appraisals.
