Our view of the service

Great Bridge Kidney Treatment Centre is located in Tipton, West Midlands and is operated by Diaverum Facilities Management Limited. The service opened in 2014 and provides haemodialysis services for adult patients referred by a local NHS foundation trust.

The centre manager has been registered with Care Quality Commission since December 2016.

We conducted an unannounced inspection on 28 April 2026. At the last inspection the service had been rated as requires improvement overall with 2 breaches in Regulation 12, safe care and treatment and Regulation 17, good governance, which have now been completed. This inspection included a review and re-rating of all 5 key questions: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.

During this inspection, a breach of Regulation 9 (Person-centred care) was identified. At the previous inspection, the provider had been advised to put appropriate translation services in place. At this inspection, some translated documents were available, but these were not fully used in practice. The service continued to rely on staff or family members to interpret for patients whose first language was not English. This meant the provider could not show that people’s communication needs were consistently being met, which affected the delivery of person-centred care.

Not all staff had completed safeguarding training to the level required in line with national guidance. As a result, the provider could not demonstrate that all staff had the appropriate knowledge and skills to effectively recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns.

The provider will be required to submit an action plan detailing how they will address the breach of regulation. This must include the steps they will take to ensure compliance with Person centred care requirements, and how they will implement and embed effective systems for providing appropriate translation and accessible information.
