Our view of the service

Date of inspection 14 July 2025 to 19 September 2025. The onsite and offsite inspection commenced due to concerns relating to risk management and governance. An inspection has been undertaken of a specialist service that is registered for use by autistic people or people with a learning disability. At the time of the inspection the service was not used by anyone with a learning disability or an autistic person. However, we inspected the care provision under Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture, as it is registered as a specialist service for this population group.

We identified 4 breaches of the regulations relating to safe care and treatment, need for consent, good governance and failing to notify CQC of other incidents. This meant there was a lack of external scrutiny to ensure people were safe and risks were mitigated. There was a lack of governance oversight which meant the service did not have effective systems in place to monitor and improve the quality of the service. The provider had not implemented a culture where staff learnt from incidents, accidents and when things went wrong. There was inconsistent recording within the care records. The provider did not ensure care records relating to risks were accurate and updated. Records relating to recruitment did not demonstrate a robust process to keep people safe. Staff spoke positively about the support received from the registered manager. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this inspection.

People's experience of this service

People and their relatives gave us mixed feedback. Comments included, “They are looking after [person]” and, “They [staff] kept everything clean and they do [person] medicines.” People and relatives also told us they were informed if staff were running late and people were supported with their care and support needs. However, we were also told, “the office could be a little more organised,” and if, “[person] wanted something you might have to wait a while to get through.”
