Our view of the service

We carried out this assessment on 18 March 2026. This was the first assessment of the service.

Roller Mill is an independent service that provides short-term psychiatric care and treatment to people. The service delivers care remotely by video link or telephone. People access the service through referrals from private insurance providers, company occupational or wellbeing schemes or through their GP. Roller Mill is part of Healthcare Partners, which also provides physical healthcare services.

The service has a head office in East Sussex. Two psychiatrists work remotely to provide telemedicine appointments. Appointments are weekly, usually for less than 6 weeks and can include prescribing medicines. At the end of treatment, clinicians advise and help GPs arrange necessary ongoing care.

Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act Compliance Summary

The service does not provide care to people detained under the Mental Health Act. The service does not care for people who require safeguards under the Mental Capacity Act. If a person requires an assessment under either framework, staff will help direct them towards receiving other appropriate support.

We gathered feedback directly from people who used the service and we also reviewed feedback collected by the provider.

Most people gave positive feedback about their care. Their comments included, “The service has been impeccable. The staff are thorough and efficient” and “The doctor was excellent, listening to my concerns and taking time to understand me as an individual.”

However, a small number of people were unsatisfied. Their feedback related to being unsatisfied about the care received or difficulties using the online appointment booking portal.
