Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 23 June2026 to 6 July 2026.Aura Supported LivingLtdis a domiciliary care agency providing personal care and support to adults withaphysical disability, people living with dementia, autistic people, people with a learning disability, people with sensory impairment and people living with mental healthconditions. At the time of the assessment, the service was supporting9 people. This is theprovidersfirstassessment since registering with the CQC[18 September 2023].
An assessment has been undertaken of a specialist service that is registered for use by autistic people or people with a learning disability. At the time of the assessment, the service was not used by anyone with a learning disability or an autistic person. However, we assessed the care provision under Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture, as it is registered as a specialist service for this population group.
Staff were recruited safely, receivedappropriate trainingand ongoing support, and understood their responsibilities in relation to safeguarding, medicines management and responding to people's needs. Staff worked collaboratively with people, relativesand healthcare professionals to support positive outcomes and continuity of care. People told us they were involved in decisions about their care and that staff respected their choices, soughtconsentand delivered support in a person-centred way. Feedback from staff reflected a positive culture where they felt supported by the registered manager, able to raise concerns and encouraged to contribute ideas for improvement.
The manager was visible, approachableand actively involved in the delivery of care. This hands-on approach enabled them tomaintaina strong understanding of people's needs and provided staff with regular support and guidance. However, improvements wererequiredin some aspects of governance, oversight and record keeping. Whilst people consistently told us they received safe and effective care, care planning documentation did not alwayscontainsufficient detail to fully reflect people's assessed needs and associated risks. We also found staffdidnot always completedaily recordsin a timely manner, which limited the provider's ability todemonstratethat care had been delivered as planned and reduced the effectiveness of monitoring systems. In addition, audits had not alwaysidentifiedthese issues or promptedtimelyimprovements despite the manager being aware of some concerns prior to the assessment.
The manager was open and transparent throughout the assessment process and acknowledged the areas requiring improvement. Theydemonstrateda willingness to address the concernsidentifiedand had begun considering actions to strengthen oversight and record-keeping systems.
