Person-centred Care
The provider made sure people were at the centre of their care and treatment choices and they decided, in partnership with people, how to respond to any relevant changes in people’s needs.
We observed interaction with people and staff and spoke with people about things they wished to do, and they were able to talk about plans to achieve this. However, their views, opinions and choices were not always captured effectively and interpreted into plans for the future, so they were in control of their own lives. This was discussed with registered manager who acknowledged this and told the inspection team they would work on improving this with improvements to the overall quality of care plans.
Relatives told us they were involved in discussions about their loved one’s care and support, care planning, and kept up to date. One relative told us, “They [staff] encourage [relative] to do as much as they want, and they supervise [relative].”
Whilst we noted there were improvements needed in the documentation at the service, we did not see any evidence that this had negatively impacted on people’s quality of life as staff working with people knew them well.
