We inspected this service using our comprehensive inspection methodology. This was our first inspection of the new location, as the service had changed address. We carried out a short notice announced inspection to ensure the availability of staff and management and to confirm there would be appointments we could observe.
People's experience of this service
We found that overall, the people who used this service were happy with the experience. They stated staff were caring and compassionate. As the service provided extra scans not available on the NHS, there was an increased chance that women attending were anxious about their pregnancy. People in attendance on the day of inspection advised us the staff were very reassuring and friendly. Staff explained what the appointment entailed before commencing, and at every stage advised what they were doing and explained any sensations the women may feel beforehand, for example, telling women the ultrasound gel would be cold before application. We were also advised the service was very open regarding costs and that there were no hidden extras.
