Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 20 March to 31st March 2026. Green Willow Care Home provides accommodation and care for up to 31 older people. At the time of our assessment, there were 27 people living at the service. Our assessment was prompted by the length of time since the last inspection.
We found high level care delivered to people, which ensured consistently good experiences and outcomes for people. People had been supported to socially engage with each other. The provider demonstrated innovative ways to promote experiences for people whilst maintaining and respecting their choices. For example, people were involved in designing and maintaining the home’s large garden. These experiences had a highly positive impact for people. Staff were kind, caring and supportive. They were committed to supporting people to live the way they wanted to. People were fully in control of their care and support. They were supported to achieve goals they had set. Staff prioritised supporting people to be as independent as possible.
People with protected characteristics felt supported. The provider’s policies, procedures and practices promoted and upheld human rights. The service worked with the local community to create memorable events for people and family. Feedback from staff, relatives and health professionals emphasised this was a well-run and caring service
Leaders and staff had a shared vision and positive culture based on listening, learning and trust. The service evidenced an outstanding level of care towards staff wellbeing. There was a culture of continuous improvement with staff supported to improve their practice and progress in their roles. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally, free from harassment or bullying.
People's experience of this service
People and their relatives spoke highly of the care and support people received at Green Willow Residential Care Home. People told us they felt safe and well cared for. A person said, “I’m very happy here. I couldn’t ask for more really.” Relatives echoed this and said, “The whole team at Green Willow, including all the support staff, create a warm and caring atmosphere for residents and their families.” and “It brings me great comfort to know she is in such a supportive and nurturing environment.” People expressed how staff treated them with kindness and they were supported to have a fulfilled and active life. As a result of the support people received, they had consistently experienced very positive outcomes. People were supported to increase their independence, become a part of the family ethos of the home and feel engaged in the wider community. People and their relatives felt confident and comfortable with the leadership team and felt able to go to them with concerns if they needed to.
