People were supported by a staff team who were trained and understood their needs. Staff were aware of risks to people’s health, safety, and wellbeing and followed guidance in people’s care plans to support them safely. There were enough staff to meet people’s needs. Staff followed infection control procedures to protect people from the risk of cross infection. People received their medicines as required.
People’s needs were assessed and reviewed regularly to ensure care met their diverse needs and requirements. Staff worked alongside other professionals to support people’s health and wellbeing. People’s consent was sought before care was provided and their capacity to make specific decisions had been assessed to ensure any decisions made on their behalf were done so lawfully.
The staff team treated people with dignity and kindness. People were supported to make their own decisions, where possible and staff respected their choices. Staff were mindful of supporting and promoting people’s independence and respected people’s privacy.
Care was focused around people’s individual needs and any changes were communicated with the staff team to ensure people’s care remained consistent with their needs. People’s communication needs were considered and any feedback shared was taken seriously. People knew how to complain or raise concerns about their care.
