Caring
Caring – this means we looked for evidence that the provider involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. We reviewed 1 quality statement. This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care.

Independence, choice and control
The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing.
People were fully included and supported in decision making. Staff enabled people to enjoy things that mattered the most to them to enhance their quality of life. For example, 1 person was supported to attend a family graduation ceremony. Some people chose to develop their own learning and personal interests through attending courses, such as computers, healthy eating and pottery. One member of staff told us, “I am quite passionate about people living their best life.”
People were supported to maintain their independence and do things they were able to do for themselves. People’s individuality was respected and the provider ensured people had choices and control over their own experiences at the service. Daily activities were facilitated according to people’s preferences. For example, some people chose to go on a shopping trip together and have a festive meal at a restaurant. People were enabled to apply for meaningful volunteer work within the service and had roles in areas such as fire warden, sales assistant, stock purchasing and postal volunteer.
