Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 24 March 2025 – 22 April 2025.

Rectory Lodge is a residential care home providing accommodation with personal care for up to 12 people. There were 7 people living at Rectory Lodge at the time of our assessment. The service provides care to older and younger people with mental health needs and people with learning disabilities and autistic people. We assessed the service against 'Right support, right care, right culture' guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. This was a responsive assessment.

We found 3 breaches of the legal regulations in relation to person centred care, safe care and treatment and good governance. There was not always sufficient information relating to individual risks to people and how these should be managed and mitigated. People’s care was not always personalised to reflect their individual needs and preferences. Governance systems and audits were not effective in identifying and addressing concerns.

However, staff were caring and promoted people’s privacy and dignity. People’s communication needs were assessed. Staff felt supported.

In instances where CQC have decided to take civil or criminal enforcement action against a provider, we will publish this information on our website after any representations and/ or appeals have been concluded.

People's experience of this service

Not all people could speak with us in detail about their experiences. Where this was the case, we also assessed people's experience by speaking with staff and professionals, reviewing people's care records and observing the care and support they received. People had received support from external professionals. During our visit we saw people supported by staff who knew them well and treated them with respect; staff were attentive to people’s needs.
