Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 02 December 2025 to 06 January 2026

Rectory Lodge is a residential care home providing accommodation with personal care for up to 12 people. There were 8 people living at Rectory Lodge at the time of our assessment. The service provides care to older and younger people with mental health needs and people with learning disabilities and autistic people. We assessed the service against 'Right support, right care, right culture' guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. This was a fully comprehensive assessment and we looked at all 5 key questions.

At our last assessment, we found 3 breaches of the legal regulations in relation to person centred care, safe care and treatment and good governance. At this assessment, we found that enough improvements had been made to remove these breaches, however we found the provider was in breach of the legal regulation relating to need for consent.

We found that there were concerns around the providers processes for completing Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interest assessments.

Staff were caring and promoted people’s privacy and dignity and supported people to engage in activities and access the community. People’s communication needs were assessed. People received their medications from appropriately trained staff.

Governance systems had improved, though we did find some inconsistencies around levels of detail in some people’s documentation. This has been addressed with the provider.

The registered manager was responsive to feedback throughout the assessment. Staff overall felt supported and spoke positively about the changes that had been implemented since our last assessment.

We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.

People's experience of this service

Not all people could speak with us in detail about their experiences. Where this was the case, we also assessed people's experience by speaking with staff and professionals, reviewing people's care records and observing the care and support they received. People had received support from external professionals. During our visit we saw people supported by staff who knew them well and treated them with respect; staff were attentive to people’s needs. One person told us, “Staff sit with me and spend time with me.”
