At the inspection on 30 September 2025, we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulation:

Following the last inspection, we received confirmation from the practice that treatment under conscious sedation is no longer being offered.

Since our last visit, all recommendations following the servicing of fire safety equipment had been implemented, and a new fire risk assessment had been completed.

The team had carried out additional training with staff on the safe handling and storage of hazardous substances. Risk assessments relating to hazardous substances had been reviewed and revised. At the time of our visit, the group were in the process of developing a centralised system for managing hazardous substances, which staff would be able to access.

We saw that the clinical waste bin was adequately secured.

Improvements had been made to ensure paper-based records were stored securely.

Monitoring protocols had been implemented, and additional policies introduced to support staff in requesting key training records. Furthermore, additional meetings were held to reinforce the importance of providing and maintaining accurate training records. While this work is ongoing and some gaps in records still existed at the time of our visit, the team were confident that the new systems would lead to sustained improvements.

CCTV policies reflected the current arrangements at the practice.

Some radiography protocols had been updated; however, further improvements should be made to ensure the adequate management of X-rays and that accurate safety information and operating procedures for the use of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) equipment were readily available to staff.

Auditing protocols had been reviewed and updated, with the team actively working to ensure that all dental care records consistently included essential information in line with current guidance. Re-auditing was being carried out at shorter intervals where gaps were identified. This work is ongoing, with further attention needed in the justification and reporting of X-rays, as well as in the prescribing of medicines.

Additional protocols had been introduced to improve the monitoring of prescriptions; however, these were not yet fully embedded or effective at the time of our visit, and further work was required to ensure all prescriptions could be consistently accounted for.
