Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 19 August to 28 August 2026. Delight Support Services is a small supported living service providing personal care, to adults with a range of different needs including older and younger adults, people with physical disabilities, mental health conditions, and people with learning disabilities or autism.
We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. This provider was able overall to demonstrate how they were meeting the underpinning principles of ‘Right support, right care, right culture’.
This was the first assessment for this newly registered provider. At this assessment we reviewed all 5 key questions and rated the provider good in effective, caring, responsive and well led and requires improvement in safe. This resulted in an overall rating of good.
During the assessment, we identified some areas where improvements were required. These related to aspects of the provider's recruitment processes, care records and medicines audits. We discussed our findings with the registered manager, who responded positively to our feedback and took prompt action to address the areas identified for improvement. This demonstrated a willingness to learn and improve the quality and safety of the service. The provider had also recently implemented a revised management structure to support oversight, auditing and monitoring. The arrangements required further time to become established and evidence their effectiveness in supporting continuous improvement.
The provider had processes to safeguard people from the risk of abuse. Staff were knowledgeable about safeguarding and knew how to act on concerns. Lessons were learnt from incidents and shared with staff.
The provider promoted people’s independence and staff understood the importance of supporting people to maintain their independence and make choices about their care.
Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff felt supported and overall told us they felt happy in their roles.
People and their relatives felt able to raise issues and were confident action would be taken if needed, and improvements made.
People were involved in assessments of their needs and care was based on the latest evidence and good practice. Staff worked with other agencies to support people to achieve good outcomes.
We received consistently positive feedback from people, their relatives, staff and external professionals. Feedback indicated people were supported by caring, respectful and responsive staff. Partner professionals spoke positively about the quality of care provided and the provider’s collaborative approach to supporting positive outcomes for people.
People's experience of this service
People and their relatives told us they were happy with the support they received from the service. They spoke positively about staff, describing them as kind, caring and respectful and felt that staff provided safe support. One relative commented, “I have been happy with Delight Support Services. I feel my relative is safe; the carers are kind and professional and seem well trained.”
People and their relatives were encouraged to share their views about the service through feedback opportunities and regular communication with the senior team. They told us they felt able to approach the service with any concerns or issues and felt that they were listened to.
People were involved in their support plan and had access to it.
People shared examples of increased independence and improved wellbeing.
Staff were aware of the importance of gaining consent when delivering care and maintaining people’s autonomy and independence.
