Our view of the service
AYS Care ltd is a residential care home registered to provide accommodation and personal care for up to 8 people. The service is for adults under and over 65 years and provides mental health care. At the time of our assessment, 8 people were living in the service.
This assessment took place on the 9 of February 2026 to 11 of February 2026. We visited the service on 9 February 2026.
This was the first assessment for this service. Our assessment was prompted by a review of the information we held about this service. As a result, we undertook a comprehensive assessment to review the key questions of Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-Led. During the assessment, we looked at 33 quality statements. The assessment was unannounced.
The inspection team consisted of 2 inspectors.
Onsite we spoke with the registered manager, 3 staff members, and 7 people living at the service.
After our visit to the service, we had feedback from 8 staff, and 2 relatives.
Care was delivered in the least restrictive manner, always prioritising the best interests of those supported. Recruitment processes were robust, ensuring staff were suitable for their roles, and all mandatory training had been completed. Staff members expressed that they felt appreciated and well-supported by the management team.
People's experience of this service
The registered manager ensured a positive culture and worked closely with external health and social care professionals and families. Staff promoted people’s health, wellbeing and continuity of care. Families told us the care was consistent, and people’s mental health remained stable, helping them avoid hospital admission.
Relatives told us their loved ones were safe. People told us they liked living at AYS Care. Staff and management prioritised the involvement of people in their own care, ensuring that their rights were upheld. Families told us they were kept informed of changes. Comprehensive assessments of care and support needs were conducted; this included their compatibility with other people living in the service.
