Our view of the service
Date of assessment 29 May and 31 May 2026.
Dean Park is a care home, registered to support up to 5 people with learning disabilities. At the time of the assessment, 5 people were receiving a regulated activity.
The service provided support to people with a learning disability and autistic people. We assessed the service against ‘Right support, Right care, Right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
Dean Park demonstrated good practice across all areas of Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture. People received person-centred care and had good access to the community. People were supported by staff who knew them well. People were empowered to be in control of their care and support. Staff were exceptional at promoting people’s independence and choice.
People were supported to access healthcare services and people’s health needs were met. Leaders thought of creative ways of ensuring people did not experience any inequalities.
People were supported by kind and caring staff who knew them well and treated them with respect.
Staff were generally positive about the service. Staff felt they had received enough training and supervision. Staff had a good understanding of safeguarding and how to escalate concerns. All staff told us they felt staffing levels were generally insufficient; however, new staff had recently been recruited and were waiting to start their employment. Agency staff were used to ensure staffing numbers remained at safe levels.
The service was exceptionally well led. Leaders were committed to ongoing research in the health and social care sector and were passionate about improving outcomes for people. Leaders worked with other services and positively contributed to research and marketing to facilitate this. Leaders were dedicated in ensuring people received high-quality, person-centred care, and this culture was rooted within the service.
