Our view of the service
Date of inspection: 12 March and 13 March 2026.
Care In Our Hands is a home care agency providing care and support to people living in their own homes. The service is registered to care for adults over and under 65 years, dementia, and physical disabilities. At the time of our inspection, there were 45 people receiving the regulated activity of personal care. We visited the registered office on 12 and 13 March 2026. This was the service’s first inspection since registration with CQC.
Staff were caring and knowledgeable about people’s needs. The service protected people from the risk of abuse and relatives felt the service was safe and caring. However, staff recruitment did not follow best practice, and staff training was not always completed. Medicines were not always managed safely. Following our feedback regarding medicines shortfalls the provider implemented a medicine strategy to improve this area
The provider did not have appropriate health care plans in place. There was a theme of incomplete and insufficient care planning across several people, with essential information about health conditions and associated risks either missing or not robustly recorded.
Governance systems need to be more robust, and audits needed to be improved. The registered manager, however, has took prompt action in response to our feedback and was keen to continue improving the service.
The provider was in breach of the legal regulation relating to governance. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
