Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 13 August 2025 to 2 September 2025. The Limes Care Home is a residential care home without nursing. The service supports older people, people living with dementia and people living with physical disabilities. The service can support up to 28 people. At the time we started our assessment, 23 people were living at the service.

At our last inspection the provider was in breach of legal regulations in relation to governance and safe staff recruitment. At this inspection, we identified 3 breaches of the legal regulations concerning safeguarding, safe care and treatment and a continued breach in relation to governance.

Safeguarding concerns had not always been identified or reported. Risks to people's health and safety were not always well assessed and managed. Accidents and incidents had not always been well managed to inform learning and reduce risks. Medicines were not always managed safely. The environment and infection control practices were not always safe. Care was not always person-centred, and staff were not always responsive to people's immediate needs. Improvement was needed in evidencing safe staff recruitment. At the time of our inspection, staff had not completed all the necessary training to meet people's health-related needs safely. Staff did not always feel able to raise concerns with leaders or that they would be listened to.

In instances where CQC has decided to take civil or criminal enforcement action against a provider, we will publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded.

This service has been placed into special measures. The purpose of special measures is to ensure that services providing inadequate care make significant improvements. Special measures provide a framework within which we use our enforcement powers in response to inadequate care and provide a timeframe within which providers must improve the quality of the care they provide.

People's experience of this service

Not all people could give us feedback on the care they received. Despite CQC finding that people’s care had significant shortfalls in relation to the standards we expect, overall, most people and relatives were satisfied with the care people were receiving. They told us staff understood people and were kind in meeting their needs. Most people and their relatives told us people were safe. A person told us, “I have no problems with anything here; I really wouldn’t be here if I did.” Relatives said, “We are happy with the care they provide.” And “We know they have [relative’s] best interest at heart.”
