Equity in experiences and outcomes
Staff and leaders actively listened to information about people who are most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes and tailored their care, support and treatment in response to this.
People received care centred around their needs and staff knew people well. Most care plans were detailed and provided appropriate guidance to staff on supporting people around their needs and preferences. We discussed with the management team some areas of care plans that could be further explored and some records linked to decisions made for people who lacked capacity to specific decisions required additional detail. After our visits, we reviewed evidence that appropriate action was been taken in response of our conversations.
Activities were happening at the home and people told us they could choose if they wanted to join in group activities or stay in their bedrooms. A person told us, “I am very content staying in my room, it’s my choice. I can listen to music, watch TV, do the crossword and read as I fancy.”
The registered manager told us some people enjoyed getting involved in looking after the garden, by planting up the pots and gentle weeding.
