Our view of the service
We carried out this assessment between 24 March and 1 April 2026, we visited the service on 24 and 25 March 2026 and spoke with people, the registered manager and staff. Yourlife (Dover) provides personal care to older people living in privately owned, self-contained apartments within an assisted living development. Not everyone who lived at the development received personal care. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided. We completed this assessment as the service had not been assessed since it was registered with us in January 2023. At the time of our inspection there were 4 people receiving the regulated activity of personal care.
The service was well led and staff supported people to remain as independent as possible whilst maintaining their safety. Staff had the skills and knowledge they needed to support people well. People’s needs were kept under review and changes to their care were planned with them. Staff were supported by a leadership team who were accessible and approachable. They were confident to share any concerns or views they had and these had been listened to and acted on to keep people safe.
People's experience of this service
People told us they received the care they needed in the way they wanted. They told us staff respected their privacy and dignity and respected their wishes. A person told us, “They are always so helpful."People told us they felt “totally” safe when staff supported them and they trusted the staff. A person told us, “They will always help with anything”. Shortly before our assessment a relative had thanked staff for supporting their loved one saying, “The amount of care [relative] received increased, but this enabled them to remain in their own home which was very important to them. The staff have been unfailingly kind and gone above and beyond. I always knew that [relative] was safe and that the staff would keep an eye out for them when they weren’t well or after one of their many hospitals stays. I really feel that they treated [relative] as one of the family and [relative] always said they were happy and felt safe. The staff have also been amazingly kind to me when [relative] had a long hospital stay.”
People were confident to raise any concerns they had, and a process was in place to listen to and act on any feedback received. Everyone we spoke with was happy with the service they received. A person told us, “I can’t find anything to be critical about”.
