Our view of the service

Date of inspection: 16 and 22 September 2026

Apex Prime Care- Hampden Park is a domiciliary care agency providing personal care and support to people living in their own homes. This was the first inspection of this service since registration. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) only inspects services where personal care is provided this includes assistance with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where applicable, any wider social care provided is also considered. At the time of assessment, the service was supporting 101 people.

People’s care requirements had been assessed prior to them receiving support from the service and were regularly reviewed to ensure people received care and support to meet their current needs.

People received person-centred care that reflected their individual needs, preferences and aspirations. Electronic care plans, risk assessments and medicines records were detailed, regularly reviewed and supported people to maintain choice, control and independence. These were fully accessible to staff and people using the service. People and their relatives told us they were involved in reviews of their medicines and care plans and had regular opportunities to provide feedback.

There were systems in place to safeguard people from abuse. Environmental risks in people's homes had been assessed to ensure peoples and staff safety when visiting. People were supported to maintain appropriate nutrition and hydration. There were systems in place to support effective team working and to ensure effective communication, such mobile messaging, memos and team meetings.

There were robust recruitment processes in place. Staff had been recruited safely and received an induction, training and regular supervision to support them in their role. Staff meetings took place and staff had opportunities to share knowledge and learning.

Staff and people receiving care had weekly rotas provided. Care staff confirmed they had time to ensure all care needs were provided during visits. Care staff always asked people for consent before providing care and ensured people’s dignity and independence were maintained and supported. People were supported to be independent and have choice and control over their lives.

There were a number of channels for people to share their views and provide feedback. People and staff felt able to raise any concerns and felt these would be appropriately responded to.

The service was well managed. Governance systems and regular auditing supported the service to continue to provide safe and effective care. The registered manager had good oversight of the service and supported the team to provide a high standard of care for people living in their own homes.

People's experience of this service

People spoke positively about the service. People felt staff were kind and caring and met their care and support needs effectively. Comments included, “The carers are keeping them safe. They’re always polite and do their job properly. They wash, clean and change them. They do everything that they should.” and “The care staff talk to you and treat me like a human being.”

People and their relatives knew how to contact the office if they needed support. People said information was provided to them, and they received a rota each week to inform them who would be providing their care.

People felt that staff arrived on time and they received care from a consistent familiar team of staff. When new care staff were attending, people told us they were informed unless this was a last minute change due to unforeseen circumstances. When staff were visiting someone they had not met before, they had access to all relevant care plans and information to ensure they were able to meet their needs safely and effectively.
