Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 12 August 2026 to 02 September 2026.

Salutem Supported Living East is a domiciliary care agency supporting people living in their own homes. The service supports people who may be autistic or living with a learning disability or physical disability, with personal care in several ‘supported living’ settings. 24 people were being supported with personal care at the time of this inspection.

We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ (RSRCRC) guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

At our last inspection the service was rated as requires improvement Safe good in all other key questions. At this inspection the service remains good overall and in all key questions.

People were safely supported by a staff team who understood how to safeguard them from abuse. Risk assessments and care plans detailed how to keep people safe and were thorough for the most part. There were enough staff to support people safely and staff had the training they needed to meet people’s support needs. People were supported safely with their medicines. The management team assessed people’s needs before they used the service and people had positive experiences as a result. Staff helped people stay healthy and have good outcomes in relation to their health and wellbeing. People were supported in line with the Mental Capacity Act (MCA).

Staff were kind and caring and people and relatives were positive about their/ their family member’s support. People were supported to have choice and maintain their independence if they chose to do so. For the most part care plans were personalised and detailed. Some improvements could be made to the way in which staff recorded how people were being supported. This was a known issue, and the management team were actively working to improve in this area. People and relatives were supported to feed back about the service and staff supported people to identify and achieve their desired goals and outcomes. The registered manager and management team were compassionate, taking the time to make sure people and staff felt well supported. Audits and governance measures were effective in monitoring the quality of the service and driving improvements where these were necessary. The culture at the service was positive and staff worked to the best of their ability to support people as individuals.

People's experience of this service

People told us they were happy being supported by staff. We observed people to be happy and relaxed whilst being supported by the staff team. Staff supported people to have a full and active life in line with their preferences and choices about how they liked to spend their time. One person said, ‘‘It’s really good here. It’s my first experience living by myself, but I think this is the best way to do it. The staff are really great’’ Another person showed us how they liked what they did with the staff team by using signs, gestures and body language. A relative told us, ‘‘The staff are brilliant and the [management team] are really working hard to make sure [family member] is getting out and about and doing what they want to do.’’
