Caring – this means we looked for evidence that the provider involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.

At our last assessment we rated this key question as good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care.

The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing.

People were encouraged to remain as independent as possible. One person said, “The staff are good they know me well. I can make my own choices, and the staff help me.” Another person said, “I have come on leaps and bounds. I am encouraged and supported, but most of all I have improved.”

One person had made the decision that they would like to change their room. We saw and heard that staff supported the person to make this choice.

People took part in meaningful activities. On the second day of the inspection many people took part in painting peg dolls which were to be displayed at a local Museum. People were chatting and seen to enjoy this activity. People enjoyed regular trips out in the local community.
