Our view of the service

We assessed Lea Court on 11 December 2026.

We assessed the service to review the progress made against the Well-Led rating of Requires Improvement following the inspection in November 2023, the report being published in February 2024. We found that the service had made improvements and was no longer in breach of regulation 17: Good Governance in relation to governance systems and audits.

Lea Court was registered with CQC in December 2010 to deliver the following regulated activities: Assessment or medical treatment for persons detained under the Mental Health Act 1983, diagnostic and screening procedures and treatment of disease, disorder or injury. The service had a controlled drugs accountable officer and a Registered Manager.

At this assessment we assessed 1 assessment service group: Long stay or rehabilitation mental health wards for adults of a working age.

We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. The Code of Governance provided by the service stipulates the provider commitment to care for people with a learning disability.

The service had been rated as good overall in the previous inspection, with safe, effective, caring and responsive key questions rated good, with requires improvement in the well-led key question. In this inspection, we focused on the previous breach of regulation that led to the rating of requires improvement in the well-led domain and found that the service had taken appropriate action to ensure the breach had been removed and other improvements had been made in line with other findings in the previous inspection.
