Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 24 April 2025 to 02 May 2025.

Edenbridge Manor Care Home is a purpose-built residential care home providing accommodation and personal care for up to a maximum of 85 older people. The service provides support to people who live with a range of health conditions such as dementia, diabetes, heart complaints, and general frailty and mobility problems.

The registration of the service has changed since the last inspection and therefore this will be the first rating under the new provider name. We would like to acknowledge the improvements made to the service to meet the previous breaches of regulation.

We undertook this responsive assessment to check on specific concerns we had received about peoples' safety and well-being, the culture and the management of risk in the service.

We did not identify any significant issues during this assessment and the service has been rated Good.

People and staff told us they would feel confident to raise any concerns and that these would be responded to by the management team. The provider had liaised with external health professionals to provide joined up care and treatment for people. This had promoted safe transitions for people moving between different services. People received safe care and staff managed risks safely, responsively and effectively. Staff and management knew people well and received an induction, training and support that enabled them to manage people’s health and social care effectively and in a responsive way. The home was clean and well maintained and provided a comfortable and safe environment. People enjoyed their meals and were supported by staff to follow a healthy lifestyle. Staff treated people with kindness and compassion, and there was a positive and friendly culture in the service. People were encouraged to remain as independent as possible and there was a dedicated activity team that worked alongside the care team to promote mental and physical well-being. Systems were in place that allowed people, relatives and staff to speak up and have their voices heard. The provider had good governance systems in place to ensure any improvements required were identified and actioned. Staff felt the management team were open and approachable, and there were regular opportunities for staff and management to discuss incidents or areas for improvement within the service to ensure lessons were learnt.

People's experience of this service

People and their relatives gave positive feedback about living in the service. People told us they were cared for by kind, and respectful staff, who knew them well. We heard that people were encouraged to be as independent as possible and were supported to keep in touch with family and friends. Relatives felt well informed and able to raise any issues, however minor with the staff or management team.

People told us, “Very happy here, look after me and my family feel welcomed,” “All the staff are very helpful,” "Well I recognise the hard job they are doing and they have enough staff,” and "All of them try to do the best they can and they succeed." Relatives told us, “There have been problems but it’s changed for the better,” and “I really can’t thank them for the care they give my relative, if there is a problem, they act quickly and they are honest.”
