Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 30 July to 4 August 2025. Hollybank Nursing Home is a residential home registered to provide personal and nursing care to up to 30 people. At the time of our assessment 26 people were using the service. The service was not providing any nursing care and told us of their plans to de register from this regulated activity. At our last inspection in October 2023, the service was rated requires improvement and was previously in breach of legal regulations in relation to safeguarding, safe care and treatment and the governance arrangements in place. At this inspection, we found improvements had been made and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations. However further work was required to ensure the improvements made to the governance of the service were effectively embedded and sustained. We found people were protected from abuse and avoidable harm. Staff demonstrated a good knowledge of how to recognise signs of abuse and how to safeguard people if they had any concerns. People had regular input from external agencies to meet specific needs that staff had identified. People had mental capacity assessments and best interest decisions in place when relevant. The service had made appropriate Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) applications and monitored the progress of the applications. The provider fostered a positive culture where people felt they could speak up and their voice would be heard.
People's experience of this service
People spoke positively about the service and the care and support staff provided. People told us the staff treated them well. We observed staff to support people safely throughout our inspection and we found equipment in place which supported people’s safety. Relatives provided us with positive feedback about how their family members were cared for, they felt the service was managed well and everyone we spoke to told us they would recommend the home.
