Our view of the service
Dates of inspection:15 July to 30 July 2026.
White Hill House Residential Care Home provides residential accommodation to up to 10 people. There were 8 people living there at time of inspection.
When last inspected, the service was rated Requires Improvement in 2020.At that time, the provider was in breach of legal regulations11, 12, 17 and 18. At this inspection, improvements had been made and the provider is no longer in breach of any legal regulations. The service is now rated as Good.
People told us they felt safe living at the service. Staff followed safeguarding procedures to protect people. Staff assessed potential risks to people, and took actions to mitigate any risks, such as providing sensor equipment.
People were supported by staff who were safely recruited and trained.
Following people’s admission to the service, staff used recognised assessment tools and worked with healthcare professionals to ensure people received appropriate treatment. Care plans were developed in consultation with people and their relatives where required and supported staff to deliver safe and effective care, which supported positive outcomes and improvements in people’s health and wellbeing.
We observed caring practice and staff who knew the people who lived at White Hill House well. People were treated with dignity and respect. People and their relatives were involved in their care and well communicated with.
People reported there was a range of activities available. They particularly valued exercise groups, themed events, musicians, and regular one-to-one engagement. For those who preferred to remain in their rooms, staff ensured they were still included through daily check-ins, conversation, and access to reading materials or music.
The provider had an effective system for governance and oversight in place, with various audits and checks undertaken.
People's experience of this service
We observed how people were supported to ensure their needs were met. We received positive feedback from people and their relatives. These included, “I am well looked after here” and “My [relative] is happy and their needs are met. I would recommend White Hill House.”
People told us they were supported by staff who knew them, and treated them well. People shared positive feedback about events which had taken place at the service.
People were happy with the food choices available to them and were encouraged to make suggestions. Our observations confirmed mealtimes were a positive, calm and sociable experience.
The deputy manager was approachable, knowledgeable and friendly with everyone. They knew people well and everyone spoke highly of them.
