During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people who used the service. Both people's feedback was very positive. One person we spoke with told us they felt listened to by staff and able to make their own choices. The second person we spoke with told us staff respected their privacy and they had been involved in making decisions about their care. They told us they had been given information about abuse and harm in a format they understood and had been asked for their feedback about the home. They told us they enjoyed living in the home.

We found people had been involved in the planning and delivery of their care as evidenced within people's care plans. The service had completed several personal risk assessments for people and had created action plans to reduce risks identified. All staff had received safeguarding training and policies, best practice guidelines and procedures were easily accessible to staff. The service had appropriate arrangements in place to ensure staff had undergone appropriate checks prior to starting work and there was an up to date statement of purpose available in a format that people could understand. The service conducted audits and sought feedback from people, their relatives and staff in order to improve the service provided.

During a routine inspection

On the day of the inspection all of the people living at the home were present; however we were unable to speak with them in a meaningful way, due to verbal communication difficulties.

We used a number of different methods to help us understand the experiences of people using the service. We also observed the care being given and the interactions between the people who use the service and the staff. We saw people responded positively to staff.

In addition we reviewed the records, and in particular those where individuals had recorded their wishes and opinions of the service.

Following the visit we spoke with three people's representatives. They told us their relatives were looked after well.
