Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 21 October to 14 November 2025. We visited the service on 21 and 22 October 2025. Ambleside can accommodate up to 18 people. Some people may live with a type of dementia. At the time of this assessment there were 15 people using the service, 12 permanent residents and 3 people receiving respite care. There was a registered manager in post. The inspection was undertaken to follow up on previous breaches of regulation. We assessed 33 quality statements across safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led key questions.
We reviewed previous breaches of regulation and found the required improvements to medicines administration and governance and oversight of the service had not been made and the service was still in breach of the legal regulations relating to safe care and treatment and good governance. We found a further 3 breaches of the regulations in relation to person centred care and in relation to notifying CQC of changes in the provider’s registered details and notifiable incidents. At our last assessment we rated the service as requires improvement; this has remained as requires improvement.
In instances where CQC has begun a process of regulatory action, we may publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded, if the action has been taken forward.
People's experience of this service
Not everyone at the service was able to speak with us so we used the Short Observational Framework for Inspection (SOFI). SOFI is a way of observing care to help us understand the experience of people who could not talk with us. Although we observed positive interactions between staff and people, we noticed people were not always offered choices or communicated with when being approached by staff. During our inspection we spoke with 6 people and 4 people’s relatives. We received good feedback regarding care and support provided to people. All people and relatives we spoke with confirmed they felt safe, received adequate or good care and enjoyed the environment of the home.
