Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 23 June 2026 to 17 July 2026. Syson Limited T/A Home Instead Mansfield Ltd is a domiciliary care agency providing personal care and support to adults with a physical disability, people living with dementia, people with sensory impairment and people living with mental health conditions. At the time of the assessment, the service was supporting 81 people. This is the providers first assessment since registering with the CQC [15 August 2022].

People were supported by a workforce that was recruited safely and provided with comprehensive induction training, including opportunities to shadow experienced staff before working independently. Staff worked within small, consistent teams, which enabled them to build trusting relationships with people and develop a detailed understanding of their individual needs, preferences, and routines.

People's care needs and risks were regularly assessed and reviewed to ensure support remained safe, effective, and responsive to changing circumstances. Where incidents occurred or concerns were raised, the provider responded promptly, conducted appropriate investigations, and shared feedback and learning to reduce the risk of recurrence.

People received their medicines safely from trained and competent staff. Robust governance and auditing processes were in place to monitor medicines management, ensuring any errors or omissions were identified quickly and acted upon without delay.

The provider promoted a culture of kindness, compassion, and respect, where people's dignity, rights, and choices were consistently upheld. Staff knew people exceptionally well and were able to recognise subtle changes in their health and wellbeing, taking timely action to secure appropriate support and maintain positive outcomes. This person-centred approach ensured people received safe, compassionate care from staff who genuinely understood and valued them.

The provider demonstrated robust governance and auditing processes that provided effective oversight of the service and promoted continuous improvement. A range of quality assurance systems were used to monitor the safety, effectiveness, and quality of care delivered.

People's experience of this service

People received person-centred care from Home Instead Mansfield which promoted their safety, independence, wellbeing, and quality of life. Feedback from people and their relatives was overwhelmingly positive, many described staff as caring, reliable, and responsive to their individual needs. People consistently told us they felt safe and valued by the staff who supported them. One person said, "Staff ensure I'm safe." Another person told us, "Staff always arrive on time and stay the full length of time."

People benefited from support provided by small, consistent teams of care professionals who knew them well and understood their preferences, routines, goals, and life histories. Staff had built trusting relationships with people and recognised and responded quickly to changes in their health and wellbeing. Relatives described how staff ensured people received the support they needed and took proactive action to seek healthcare support and advocate on people's behalf.
