Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 19 November to 2 December 2025.

Greatful Care is a home care service providing support to older people in their homes. At the time of our assessment, there were 5 people using the service. The service registered with the Care Quality Commission on 23 September 2022. We carried out this assessment to provide the service with their first overall rating. The assessment was carried out by 1 inspector and included a visit to the service on the 3 December. We also requested records remotely. During the assessment we spoke with the registered manager and requested feedback from the staff. We made phone calls to people and relatives, to gain feedback about the care they received. At this assessment we looked at all 33 quality statements and provided the service with an overall rating of good.

People and relatives told us they felt they received safe care and that risks to people were managed well. The staff had a good awareness of how to raise concerns if they suspected abuse. Systems were in place to manage any concerns that were raised. Staff and people benefited from an open and positive culture that had been developed by the registered manager. People were supported by a team of staff who knew them well. Staff felt valued, undertook regular training and received supervision.

People were involved and consented to care and support provided. People were treated as individuals and were encouraged to be independent. Staff were kind and compassionate and knowledgeable of people’s needs. People’s communication needs were recorded and respected by the staff. People and staff were asked for their views on the quality and safety of the service, and their feedback was listened to. People and relatives knew how to raise concerns and were confident they were acted on.

Governance systems were in place and regular audits were undertaken by the registered manager. The provider had a vision to expand on the number of people that they cared for, whilst providing a high standard of person-centred care. Staff well-being was promoted by the service, and the staff spoke positively about the registered manager.

During this assessment we spoke with 1 person and 4 relatives. This was to find out about the experiences people have had with Greatful care. We received positive feedback regarding the service. People felt safe with the care they received from the service. A relative told us, “They have 2 calls a day, 1 carer each visit. They do feel safe as the carers always introduce themselves and shows their ID badges. They do anything they are asked, we couldn’t ask for anything more and more importantly my loved one is so happy”.

People received care and support from staff who were caring, respectful and well trained. A relative told us, “The staff are so well trained and familiar with my loved ones. The carers know the routine very well. I have no complaints regarding the care they receive. Another relative told us, “The carers are fantastic, and we can’t thank them enough, they are respectful and loving. It’s lovely to see my loved one interact with them and smiling and looking happy”.
