Our view of the service

The assessment took place between 10 March and 13 April 2026. The Farthings Nursing Home provided accommodation for adults who required nursing or personal care, and at the time of the assessment, 53 people were living there.

The service demonstrated a consistently good standard of care, supported by effective leadership, a positive culture and well-established systems. Leaders had promoted a proactive and person-centred approach, encouraging openness, reflection and learning. Staff reported that they felt valued, supported and able to raise concerns or share ideas, which contributed to maintaining and improving care quality and safety.

Governance systems were robust and operated effectively, providing oversight of quality, safety and performance. Information from audits, incidents and feedback was routinely reviewed and used to support ongoing improvements and maintain positive outcomes for people.

Staff worked well in partnership with healthcare professionals and other organisations, helping to ensure coordinated and responsive care. The service maintained constructive relationships with external partners, which supported continuity of care and positive outcomes for people using the service.

Staff had the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence to support people with a range of needs safely. This included helping people to remain in familiar surroundings wherever possible and supporting timely access to other services when required.

There was a clear focus on staff wellbeing, development and retention. Morale was positive, leadership was visible, and staff described working in a supportive environment.

The home was clean, welcoming and well maintained. Infection prevention and control measures, along with risk management systems, were in place and followed appropriately.
