Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 8 July 2026 and 22 July 2026 with on-site visits taking place on 8 and 16 July 2026. Bridgewater home care is a domiciliary care agency that provides personal care to people living in their own homes. At the time of our inspection 31 people received support from Bridgewater homecare. The service had systems in place to safeguard people from abuse, and staff were aware of their roles and responsibilities in keeping people safe.
Care plans and risk assessments were detailed and contained information to ensure people's needs could be met safely and consistently. Clear guidance was available to staff to support their understanding of people's needs and how to provide safe care.
Medicines were managed safely where required. Staff received appropriate training and had their competency assessed to ensure they could administer medicines safely.
The service worked alongside healthcare professionals to ensure people received the support they required and to promote continuity of care.
The provider sought feedback from people and their relatives through surveys and regular care reviews.
Staff were encouraged to share ideas and contribute to service improvements.
Governance systems were effective and enabled both the registered manager and provider to maintain oversight of the service.
Staff were recruited safely, and new staff completed a thorough induction programme, including training and shadowing opportunities before providing support independently. This helped ensure staff had the skills and knowledge required to support people safely and effectively.
People's experience of this service
People and their relatives were happy with the support and feedback demonstrated people experienced kind, responsive and person-centred care by Bridgewater Homecare.
All feedback we received about the support provided was positive. One relative told us, “They provide flexible care at very short notice,” and another said, “We are very pleased, the service is very good.”
People and relatives spoke positively about the staff providing support. Comments included, “100% - the girls really do care, it’s not just a job or a routine,” and “I have kind, nice female carers who are really pleasant and always ask if there is anything else they can do.”
People knew who to contact if they had any concerns and were aware of who the registered manager was.
When asked whether any improvements could be made, most people and relatives told us they could not identify any areas for improvement. One relative said, “I couldn’t think of one single thing they could do to improve. They must be recruiting the right kind of people because they are very good.”
People and relatives consistently commented that support was delivered on time and by a regular team of staff.
Staff, including the management team, knew people well and understood their individual needs. People remained at the heart of the support provided, and the service was continually looking for ways to improve people's experiences and outcomes.
