Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 2 February 2026. Royal Tunbridge Wells Skin Clinic Ltd is an independent provider of dermatology services and injectable botulinum toxin (Botox) for various medical conditions. The service is provided from dedicated clinic premises in the centre of Royal Tunbridge Wells and is open from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm.

Independent medical services are provided by a General Medical Council (GMC) registered doctor specialising in dermatology and aesthetics, and an advanced nurse practitioner who has undergone additional training in dermatology. The service also employs aesthetic clinicians, therapists and reception staff. The service is managed by the directors (one of whom is an aesthetic practitioner) and the advanced nurse practitioner.

The provider works with other local services to refer people when clinically indicated and shares information with people’s NHS GPs where appropriate and with consent. People can access services on a fee-paying basis only. The service sees adults and children aged over 12.

The service provides non-invasive aesthetic services alongside regulated activities which fall outside the scope of CQC regulation and were not included in this assessment.

We carried out this assessment to follow-up on concerns we received about the service.

We found that the service had a positive learning culture and people could raise concerns. The facilities and equipment met the needs of people, were clean and well-maintained. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. However, we identified some gaps in safety systems which the service resolved immediately following the assessment.

People were involved in assessments of their needs. Staff reviewed assessments taking account of people’s communication, personal and health needs. Care was based on latest evidence and good practice. Staff made sure people understood their care and treatment to enable them to give informed consent.

People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. They treated them as individuals and supported their preferences. People had choice in their care and treatment. The service supported staff wellbeing.

People were involved in decisions about their care. The service provided information people could understand. People knew how to give feedback and were confident the service took it seriously and acted on it. The service was easy to access and worked to eliminate discrimination.

Leaders and staff had a shared vision. The leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities. The service responded promptly following this inspection to most of the concerns we identified.

People's experience of this service

The service collected people’s feedback which was positive for all aspects of the service. The service was listed on an independent review platform that published verified feedback. Reviews covered medical and aesthetic treatments, with an overall rating of 4.9 out of 5, indicating an ‘excellent’ standard of care. Individual comments consistently highlighted the team’s kindness and professionalism and showed that people valued the information provided about care and treatment options.
