Inspection carried out on 13 November 2013

During a routine inspection

We found that that there were suitable arrangements in place to ensure that people consented to the care that was being provided.

Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare.

We saw certificates confirming that staff had attended appropriate training to ensure that care could be delivered safely. Staff had regular appraisals with the registered manager. People were cared for by staff who were supported to deliver care and treatment safely and to an appropriate standard.

We saw that the provider sought the views of the managers of care homes and people who used the service. We saw that the provider had analysed the feedback and had regard to the comments made. One care home manager wrote, AQS provide a very good service to us. They are very responsive to any concerns we may have but these have been on [a] rare occasion.

We saw that complaints were dealt with in a timely fashion, and that appropriate action was taken to deal with these.
