Score: 3

Staff spoke positively about people and gave examples of person centred care. For example, people were consulted about how they wanted to spend their time. People had a range of activities to choose from and were offered a choice of meals. The manager and staff told us how people had activities arranged including trips out into the community, entertainers coming into the service, and activities arranged by staff. One person said, “I’m very impressed with the Christmas programme (of activities).”

People were positive about staff and their caring attitude and told us they were treated with kindness and compassion. One person said, “It’s a small staff team, they are excellent and very professional.” A relative said; “I’m happy with the care my relative receives.” Staff enjoyed spending time with the people, though they were busy when only 2 staff were on duty. Staff knew what was important to people and how to offer people comfort and reassurance. We observed plenty of good interaction and humour between staff and people.
