Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 8 May 2025 to 31 July 2025. The service provides nursing and personal care for older people, some of whom are living with dementia and younger people with a physical disability. There were 66 people living at Bede House at the time of the inspection.
We caried out this assessment to follow-up the breach of good governance we identified when we last inspected between February and April 2024. The provider had made progress and was no longer in breach of the regulations.
Bede House was extremely well-led. The registered manager was a positive role model who was well respected amongst peers and external professionals. Staff were especially dedicated to providing the best possible care to enable people, often with very complex needs, to achieve positive outcomes. The provider had forged strong links with partners to enable people to receive holistic care and to integrate into the local community. There was a strong focus on continuous learning and improvement. The provider invested in staff so they could develop and take on new challenges.
Safeguarding concerns were reported to the local authority appropriately and fully investigated. Individual risk assessments were completed when needed to help ensure people’s safety. There were enough staff deployed to meet people’s needs. New staff were recruited safely.
People experienced good outcomes from living at Bede House.
People's experience of this service
People and relatives gave exceptionally positive feedback about the care provided at Bede House. They described the home as an excellent place to live and found staff to be especially caring, responsive and compassionate. Feedback was listened to and welcomed, and any issues were resolved quickly. A relative commented, “My [family member] is so well cared for by staff, everyone goes above and beyond. [Family member] is always happy, the care for residents is excellent.”
