Our view of the service

Date of assessment 9 November to 8 January 2025. We did not visit the service but reviewed specific documentation and evidence and met with the management team on 8th January 2025. Edgemont House is a care home providing accommodation and personal care for up to 14 people. At the time of our inspection there were 14 people living at the service. The service provides support to older people with a range of health and social care needs, including some people who were living with dementia. For this assessment, we looked at key questions in the quality statements for safe and well led. At the last inspection, the service was rated requires improvement in these key questions and overall. In this assessment, we found the service has improved in both key questions and the overall rating has changed to good. We read a selection of positive reflections about the service. The provider stated, “Since our previous CQC inspection we have striven to make improvements to the way the home is led, to the safety of the home, and what we offer our residents in terms of richness of life.” One staff member was leaving the home for career development and wrote, “I have learnt everything I know from you and our lovely home. I have enjoyed being part of your family for 2 years and want to thank you.” One professional told us, “It's important to highlight that staff promote a social and friendly atmosphere. They encourage people to socialise with activities and celebrate special occasions. This is very worthwhile for the resident's mental health and overall well-being.”
