Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 8 January to 25 January 2026.

Truscott Manor Care Home is a nursing home. People in nursing homes receive accommodation and nursing or personal care as single package under one contractual agreement. CQC regulates both the premises and the care provided, and both were looked at during this inspection. At the time of the inspection, there were 30 people using the service. All were in receipt of the regulated activity of personal care.

People received safe, effective and responsive support at Truscott Manor. Systems and processes were in place to mitigate the risk of harm to people and to protect them from abuse. Staff had a clear understanding of their responsibilities under safeguarding, while the provider understood their regulatory responsibilities. People were involved in the management of risk to their care and support. People were supported by enough staff who had received the appropriate training to meet people’s needs. Infection control procedures were in place to keep people safe.

People received effective care. People’s needs, wishes and preferences were assessed and captured and staff understood these needs. People were supported, when needed, to access healthcare services. People were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends. One professional said, “Truscott is homely, the staff are kind and professional. If you asked me if I would be happy for one of my relatives to be placed there.”

Governance arrangements and systems were well established and ensured that peoples care was monitored and improved if needed. Leaders and staff worked together to provide responsive care for people at the home. Care plans were detailed and contained information that staff needed to do their jobs well.
