Our view of the service
Ingleside Residential Care Home is a care home providing personal care for up to 17 people. There were 14 people living at the service during this inspection. The inspection was carried out between15 and 17 December 2025. This inspection was prompted by concerns we received about the safety of care provision. We found 3 breaches of regulation in relation to good governance, staffing and safe care and treatment.
The provider did not always have governance checks in place. The available audits were not always used effectively to identify shortfalls, errors and omissions. This placed people at increased risk of receiving poor quality and unsafe care. The provider failed to ensure people’s rights were protected and the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) were not always being followed.
There was not enough staff to meet people’s needs. The provider had failed to identify and assess people’s needs to ensure they had sufficient numbers of staff.
People did not always receive safe care. Risks to people's care were not always managed well and were not always properly identified and acted upon. We asked the provider for an action plan in response to the shortfalls we identified during the inspection.
We served one warning notice on Ingleside Residential Care Home on 30 December 2025 for a failure to operate effective systems to monitor the quality of the service.
The registered manager responded to the shortfalls identified during this inspection and implemented a programme to review processes in place, MCA assessments and staffing levels.
Staff knew people well. Relatives felt involved in people’s care. Health and social care professionals were complimentary about working with the service.
People's experience of this service
We received mixed feedback from people. Comments included, “I like it here, but they don’t have the time to speak to me, I get lonely. I feel like I'm missing out just looking out of my doorway. I sleep a lot as what else is there to do?”, “Couldn’t find better staff to look after me”, and “I’m a bit bored here to be honest.” Relatives were complimentary about the service. Comments included, “[Person] absolutely loves it there. Ingleside is a very homely residential home”, and “[Person] always tells me they are very well looked after.” While some people and relatives we spoke with said they were happy with their care, we found significant shortfalls during this inspection. The provider responded to our feedback and started to make necessary changes within the service.
