Kindness, compassion and dignity

Regulations met

Staff treated patients with kindness, respect and compassion. We observed positive interactions between staff and patients both in person and on the telephone. Staff displayed an understanding of patients’ needs and showed warmth and compassion to patients.

Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Comments included, ‘Rose Cottage always take care of my dental / Oral needs with kindness and monitoring any changes in my oral health. (Clinician) offers advice as required, which over the years has improved my overall oral health. The receptionists will always try to meet my needs on appointment timings and dates.’

Patient comments included that staff were welcoming and attentive, acted with integrity, and showed compassion. One person commented, ‘Reception staff are very pleasant and extremely helpful. When I have needed to be seen quickly, I have generally been well accommodated. My dentist knows I am anxious having work done and is very good at explaining what is happening. The dental assistant is absolutely delightful and really helps calm my anxiety.’

Patients said staff were professional, courteous, and considerate.

Patients felt they were treated as individuals, and their personal and cultural needs were respected. A patient commented, ‘I’m a VERY nervous patient (clinician and nurse) are extremely good with me I feel very reassured with them. The entire practice is and always has been very warm, welcoming, clean, tidy and very professionally run with an extremely positive vibe (for a dentists).”

People received care from staff who were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights, and of the importance of privacy and confidentiality.

Staff felt respected, valued and supported in their roles, and their wellbeing was supported.
